Higher Bullring, Cullompton.
A new bench seat has been installed in sight of the War Memorial, providing a place for quiet reflection and remembrance. The bench has been generously funded by the Royal British Legion as part of their ongoing commitment to honouring those who have served and sacrificed for their country.
Situated in a peaceful spot overlooking the memorial, the bench offers a place for visitors to pause, reflect, and pay their respects. It stands as a symbol of gratitude to all who have served in the Armed Forces, past and present.
Keith Astbury, Chair of the local Royal British Legion branch, said: “We are proud to support this project, ensuring that those visiting the War Memorial have a place to sit and reflect. It is a small but meaningful way to honour the bravery and sacrifice of our servicemen and women.”
The installation of the bench has been welcomed by the local community, with residents and veterans alike expressing their appreciation. Councillor Tony Spring, Cullompton Town Mayor and a Veteran himself, added: “This thoughtful addition enhances the memorial site, making it even more accessible and inviting for those who come to remember.”
A short dedication ceremony was held on 14 March, where members of the Royal British Legion joined members of the Town Council in officially opening the bench.
