Joint Statement from the Town Mayor and the Chair of the Staffing Committee in Support of Cullompton Town Council Employees
As the Town Mayor and Chair of the Staffing Committee, we wish to publicly reaffirm our strong and unwavering support for all employees of Cullompton Town Council.
Our staff are the backbone of the Council’s work, serving the town with professionalism, integrity, and commitment. We fully recognise the value of their work and the importance of ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect at all times.
Cullompton Town Council is committed to being a responsible and fair employer. We have a duty of care to provide a safe, supportive, and respectful working environment for all our employees – free from bullying, harassment, or undue pressure. We take this responsibility seriously.
We will continue to uphold these principles and take all necessary steps to ensure that every member of staff feels safe, supported, and able to carry out their duties without fear of personal attack or reputational harm.
As a Council, we are proud to have signed the Civility and Respect Pledge, and we remain fully committed to upholding the standards it sets. The Pledge is more than a symbolic statement – it is a clear commitment to treat others with dignity, to value our staff, and to reject all forms of bullying, harassment, and intimidation.
As elected members, we have a duty to lead by example and to ensure our words and actions – both online and offline – foster a culture of respect and integrity. Our staff deserve nothing less.
We stand firmly behind our employees, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to protect their rights and wellbeing, while maintaining the highest standards of governance and conduct within Cullompton Town Council.
